TUS Examination

What is TUS?

What is TUS? TUS is an examination also known as Specialty Exam in Medicine which can be taken by fields of profession mentioned in the regulation physicians in particular except for biologists. Those who become successful in TUS which is held for the purpose of training specialist doctors become assistants (research assistant) and those who graduate by completing duration of training set forth at the by-law earn the title of specialist doctor. Fields of specialty in medicine are as follows;

Equivalence Service Charge

  1. A service charge set by the Board may be received in consideration of equivalency services from agencies and organizations requesting equivalence certificate. Such charges are as follows;
  1. Application charge,
  2. Annual charge for each type of examination for which equivalency is granted,
  3. Objection charge when the Presidency rejects request for equivalency,
  4. Service charge to be received from equivalence approval requests of persons regarding an examination equivalence of which is established by the Presidency based on a decision to be made by the Board.


Foreign Language Examination Equivalences  

Board of ÖSYM (Center for Student Selection and Placement in Turkey) adopted the following decisions by making an update on 25.02.2016 regarding equivalences of Foreign Language Examinations held as a result of reports of Foreign Language Examinations equivalency Committee and assessments of Department of Foreign Language Examination.

How Specialty Exam in Medicine is Implemented?

  1. Face of a candidate who is going to take specialty exam in medicine must be open in order to allow identification.
  2. In order to perform identification and security checks and room entrance procedures in time a timely manner, candidates must be present at the door of buildings where they will take the examination at least one hour in advance of start time.
  3. Candidates will be taken to examination rooms by checking their Examination Entrance Documents and ID card or passports which would ensure identification.
  4. Candidates taken to examination room will be seated at places where their sequence numbers are present.
  5. A candidate who sits at his/her seat will put Exam Entrance Document and ID card on desk.  
  6. Examination employees will, first of all, perform identification checks of candidates one by one. During this time, examination employees will also collect examination entrance documents.
  7. After completion of necessary identification checks, room chairman will read to the candidates rules to be applied during the exam, and ensure that answer sheets containing candidate’s photograph, T.R. identification number or foreign national number, name and last name (answer sheet to be used by each candidate during the exam is specific. Such answer sheets contain candidate’s photograph and personal particulars. The candidates must use such answer sheets issued specific to them during the exam. Examination of a candidate who use examination sheet of another candidate is deemed invalid.) as well as boxes containing two pencils, pencil sharpener, eraser and tissue are distributed to the candidates.    
  8. After completion by the candidates of necessary sections at answer sheets, question booklets will be distributed.
  9. Candidates will quickly check prints of pages found in question booklets supplied to them, then they will fill in their T.R. identification number or foreign national number, name and last name, room number as well as sequence number details in the section found on cover of the booklet. They will also write and code question booklet number to Question Booklet Number field. The candidates will ensure confirmation that such transaction is done correctly and completely and relevant sections of both question booklet and answer sheet are completed in full. Examination employees are not responsible for coding question booklet number on answer sheet correctly and completely. The candidates are responsible for correctly coding all such information.
  10. Upon completion of coding, room employees will affix 2d-code label of question booklet found on question booklets of the candidates at the section containing name of candidate using such booklet at room candidate attendance list.
  11. All candidates taking the examination must check question booklets and answer sheets supplied to them and make sure that they received examination documents in conformity with their conditions and information found at their examination entrance documents; otherwise they must notify the room chairman about the condition. A candidate who takes delivery of examination documents without necessary examination and continue examination will bear all responsibility arising from mistakes at examination documents.
  12. Duration of each test to be applied at the examination will be 150 minutes. Candidates may not leave examination room after distribution of examination documents without expiry of initial 110 minutes of examination process or when last 15 minutes are left to expiry of examination duration. The candidates are prohibited from exiting the examination room during the examination even for a brief period of time (going to toilet is included). The candidates who wish to leave the examination room without completion of such durations are not granted permission, definitely.
  13. A candidate who leaves the examination room for any reason whatsoever will not be re-admitted to the examination room and will be made wait at examination building until initial 100 minutes of the examination passes.
  14. During the examination, ÖSYM representatives may audit examination rooms. Such representatives may re-check examination entrance documents and identification cards if and when they deem necessary.
  15. During examination duration the candidates are definitely prohibited from;
  1. Cheating, talking,
  2. Asking questions to examination employees,
  3. Using draft paper or writing questions and answers on a separate paper,
  4. Writing questions answers on the back of answer sheet,
  5. Exchanging pencils, pencil sharpeners, erasers and similar stuff,
  6. Reading to continue questions and continue to mark answer sheets despite examination duration expiry,
  7. Engage in behavior that would disrupt examination order.

Examinations of candidates found to breach such bans are deemed invalid.

  1. Complying with examination rules is the basic duty of a candidate. The candidates who engage in behavior against the rules are not allowed to continue the examination. However, if examination employees deem it necessary not to distract attention of other candidates and to cause loss of time, identifications and faults of candidates behaving against rules will be explicitly written to examination minutes or employee reports by examination employees and examination results of such candidates will be deemed invalid.
  2. The candidates may use blank spaces on question booklets for drafting.
  3. The candidates are absolutely banned from writing questions or answers to such questions on a separate paper and taking such paper out.
  4. At the end of examination, question booklets will be collected and examined by ÖSYM one by one.
  5. Examinations of candidates with question booklets containing even a missing page are deemed invalid.
  6. Also, examinations of candidates who fail to submit their examination entrance document are deemed invalid.

Examination buildings and examination rooms are monitored by surveillance cameras installed by ÖSYM. Such footage is used as evidence when necessary.
